William E. Trefry, 70, General Electric Meteorologist

William E. Trefry, 70, of Bradford, died Friday morning, May 27, at Holy Family Hospital at Merrimack Valley, Haverhill.

He was born in Salem, Sept. 29, 1945, son of the late Ernest and Frances (Woodhouse) Trefry. Raised in Lynnfield, Trefry attended the Lynnfield school system and graduated from Lynnfield High School, class of 1965. While living there he was a call fireman for 10 years. For more than 45 years he was employed at General Electric as a meteorologist until his retirement in 2011. He moved to Bradford in 1973, and was an avid Red Sox fan and Parrot Head. He also enjoyed fishing, crossword puzzles, playing cribbage and trips to Key West.

His survivors include his wife of 48 years, Christine V. (Halaiko) Trefry of Bradford; two sons, Eric W. Trefry of Bradford, Todd D. Trefry and spouse Stephanie of Bakersfield, Calif.; daughter, Allison C. and her spouse Kiley Scofield of Haverhill; sister, Nancy and her spouse Joe Lingel of Newton, N.H.; brother-in-law Henry Halaiko and his spouse Kathy OF Osprey, Fla.; two grandchildren, Emma and Justin Trefry; “therapy” dog, Tessie; and five nieces and nephews. Trefry was the brother of the late Linda Trefry.

His family will be receiving relatives and friends Saturday June 4, from 1 to 4 p.m., at  H.L. Farmer & Sons Bradford Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 210 South Main St., Bradford. His Funeral Service and interment will be private and at the convenience of the family.
