97.9 WHAV FM, the only Haverhill-based news source, has expanded its team along with its offerings this fall. With live Haverhill High School football broadcasts and City Council and School Committee meeting coverage comes the hiring of two new staffers to enhance coverage across the Merrimack Valley and Southern New Hampshire.

WHAV President and General Manager Tim Coco hired University of Manchester grad Alexander Guittarr and radio veteran David Morrison, welcoming them to the Ward Hill studio in October. Both Guittarr and Morrison recently assisted with WHAV’s expanded Election Central coverage, serving as field reporters at candidate parties.

Derry, N.H.’s Guittarr lends a hand with municipal meeting coverage alongside Assistant Editor Allison Corneau, while Morrison is the man behind the mic during live remote broadcasts. Morrison, a diehard Boston sports fan, also assists WHAV’s Wednesday night “Good Sports” talk show anchored by Paul Ryan and Tommy Morgan.

Prior to landing at WHAV, Guittarr spent 18 months as a general assignment reporter at Nutfield Publishing in Londonderry, N.H. When he’s not at WHAV, Lowell resident Morrison continues his production duties at AM talk station WSMN.
