The Veterans Northeast Outreach Center, established in 1985, was named Greater Haverhill Chamber of Commerce’s “Business of the Month” for June.

Established in Lawrence, the center began as a storefront operation, staffed largely by volunteers, to provide support and advocacy to Vietnam Veterans. Through the years, the focus of the center has expanded to accommodate more than 36,000 veterans in our region who are eligible for care. It provides care to Veterans and their families, from basic food and shelter to advocacy, information, referrals and career, and education services.

The Center also sponsors a number of outreach initiatives to senior citizens, young people and families of veterans. It is funded, in part, through contracts with the Department of Veterans Affairs, Massachusetts Department of Veterans Services, U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development and private donations.

Business of the Month winners are automatically entered into the running for the Chamber’s annual Business of the Year award, given in February.

Nominations for Business of the Month may be submitted any time. Forms are available by calling the Chamber office at 978-373-5663 or by email at [email protected]. Companies may be nominated by any member business.
