A 17-year-old juvenile is in custody after allegedly stealing a car from an Amesbury Road dealership and taking police on a chase that spanned much of Haverhill Monday, WHAV has confirmed.

Behind the wheel of a 2012 Toyota Camry allegedly stolen from the Royal Crest Motors car dealership, the teen was taken into custody on White Street, Haverhill Police spokesman Capt. Stephen J. Doherty Jr. tells WHAV. An effort was made to stop the teen, who does not have a valid driver’s license, at the intersection of Main and Dudley Streets just before 2 a.m.

He later took police on a citywide chase that ended on White Street.

Charged with a wealth of offenses—including larceny of a motor vehicle, destruction of property and resisting arrest—the teen is set for arraignment in Lawrence Juvenile Court.
