As early voting is set to begin in Haverhill ahead of the Nov. 6 election, democratic congressional candidate Lori Trahan picked up an endorsement from three-term Congressman Joe Kennedy III.

Last Thursday, the 4th District’s Kennedy praised Trahan at a voter rally in Lowell, making special mention of the candidate’s fight to make the voice of each and every constituent in the 3rd District’s 37 communities heard.

“On Nov. 6, people in this district and across the country will have an opportunity to elect leaders like Lori who believe that America stands for a place where everyone is seen, where everyone counts, where everyone can succeed.” Kennedy said.

At the event, Trahan—who faces off against Republican Rick Green and independent Mike Mullen—renewed her promise to keep affordable healthcare and the opioid crisis top of mind should she make it to Washington, D.C.

Kennedy’s endorsement follows those of retiring 3rd District Congresswoman Niki Tsongas, U.S. Sen. Elizabeth Warren and Attorney General Maura Healey, who praised Trahan at a rally in Haverhill earlier this month. All of Trahan’s democratic primary challengers—including runner-up Dan Koh—have all also vowed to back their party’s candidate.

The candidate named the new 3rd District congressperson will represent areas including Haverhill, Andover and Methuen.
