Thomas F. Harty, 53, Worked for General Electric

Thomas F. Harty, 53, passed away March 10 at Wentworth Douglas Hospital in Dover, N.H.

Born in Methuen, he was the son of Ann P. (Clark) Harty-Wheeler of Orlando, Fla., and the late John J. Harty, Jr. He attended North Andover public schools and was a graduate of Haverhill High School’s class of 1982.

Harty obtained his Master’s degree in Aeronautical Engineering from the University of Massachusetts – Lowell and graduated Cum Laude. He was employed at General Electric and Pratt and Whitney. Known for his Celtic humor and Irish wit, he was extremely proud of his Irish heritage. A man with a huge heart, he was generous, if you were in need he was there to help, always greeting you with a smile.

In addition to his loving mother, he is survived by his sisters, Patricia Ann Harty of Cocoa, Fla., Kathleen Mary Harty of Orlando, brother, John J. Harty III and his wife Janice of Manchester, N.H., an aunt, “Auntie Mamie” Mary Peel of Haverhill, nieces and nephews, Caitlin, Kelsey and James Harty, Timothy and John Veltsos, Audrey Harty, Sarah, Angela and Ryan Taliento. He was predeceased by his Godfather, Uncle Benjamin F. Peel, Jr.

Family and friends are invited to attend calling hours on Friday, March 16 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Kevin B. Comeau Funeral Home, 486 Main St., Haverhill. Funeral services will begin on Saturday morning at 9 a.m. at the funeral home with a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10 a.m. at St. John the Baptist Church, Lincoln Avenue, Haverhill. Burial will follow at St. Mary’s Immaculate Conception Cemetery, Barker Street, Lawrence.
