Susan Ann (McCarty) Najuch, 59, Nurse at Merrimack Valley Hospital

Susan Ann (McCarty) Najuch, 59, of Bradford passed away peacefully on Friday, Nov. 17 at her home. She was predeceased by her parents Thomas and Daisy (MacCord) McCarty, great-nephew Jack McCarty, nephew Kevin McCarty and brother Thomas “Rusty” McCarty Jr.

A loving daughter, sister, wife, mother and grandmother, Najuch dedicated her life to her family and her profession as a nurse. She graduated from North Andover High School and from the Greater Lawrence Vocational Technical Institute with her LPN and Boston State College (UMASS Boston) with her RN. She received her Master’s in Nursing Administration at Cambridge College. While in school, Najuch was awarded the Florence Nightingale Award for excellence in nursing. Her lengthy, fulfilling career began in 1982 at the Hale Hospital where she was appointed by Mayor Ryan. Her career continued at Phillips Academy, MIT, City of Haverhill Council on Aging and as the city’s Public Health Nurse. She finished her professional career at Merrimack Valley Hospital.

Najuch was a lifelong Disney fanatic and her passion for Disney and travel provided many wonderful memories to her family on their numerous vacations. She was known for her Elvis fascination. While on vacation in Las Vegas, “Elvis” renewed her and husband Laurence’s wedding vows at the Graceland Wedding Chapel. She also enjoyed family dinners where she liked to prepare creative meals and unique cakes.

Najuch is survived by her husband Laurence J. Najuch Jr., children Sarah Petrolino of Howell, N.J. and husband John, Erin Najuch of Boston, Melissa Najuch-Brown and husband Derrick of Bradford and Laurence J. Najuch, III of Pelham, N.H. and fiancee Constance Barysauskas; grandchildren Sophia Najuch, Hadley Najuch-Brown and John J. Petrolino, IV; sisters Beverly Rogato and husband Richard, Judith D’Elia and husband Richard; brother Francis T. McCarty all of North Andover; brother in-law Michael S. Najuch, of Haverhill, as well as lifelong friend Carolyn Scione of North Andover, several nieces and nephews and her favorite cat Lily.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, Nov. 21 in the Driscoll Funeral Home, 309 So. Main Street, Haverhill from 5 to 8 p.m. Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday morning in Sacred Hearts Church, 165 So. Main Street, Bradford at 10 a.m. Please meet directly at church. Private burial will take place at Walnut Cemetery.
