Stephen Lowney, 54, Enjoyed Cooking, Roller Skating

Stephen Lowney, 54, of Haverhill, formerly of North Andover, passed away peacefully on Friday, May 11.

Lowney was born in Stoneham and was the foster son for 47 years to the late Gloria (Dow) Ringdahl and Richard Ringdahl, Sr. Upon his foster parents’ passing, Lowney lived with his foster brother Richard and his wife Wendy (Cormey) Ringdahl.

He was a happy-go-lucky man who had a big heart and a great smile. Lowney would reach out to strangers while out in public and say “I know you” and then he would give them a hug. He was an avid roller skater and enjoyed swimming, bowling, gardening, cooking and dancing. He was most happy being home with his family and helping with many chores around his home. He enjoyed cooking alongside his uncle Ray and cousin Dougie. He was also very active in his community and attended Nevin’s Day Program in Methuen. In Lowney’s last months, he was well cared for by his group home staff from Career Resources Corporation in addition to the staff on the second floor unit of Lawrence General Hospital.

Lowney leaves behind his loving foster siblings Corinne (Ringdahl) Plotz, Susan (Prater) Doane, Karen Sandquist, Maureen Phillips, Patty Swan, Richard Ringdahl, Jr., Robert Prater, Eric Gurley and Michael Fournier. He is also survived by numerous beloved aunts, uncles and cousins.

A celebration of Lowney’s life will be held on Tuesday, May 22, in the Driscoll Funeral Home, 309 South Main St., Haverhill from 11 a.m.-12 p.m. Services will begin at 12 p.m.
