A Sandown, N.H., motorcyclist was killed Saturday when his Harley Davidson collided with a pickup truck, New Hampshire State Police said.

Eric Leighton, 53, sustained life-threatening injuries from the crash near 272 Kent Farm Road in Hampstead, N.H., that happened just before 4 p.m. Transported to Parkland Medical Center in Derry, N.H., Leighton succumbed to his injuries a few hours later, according to state police.

The operator of the pickup truck, 59-year-old Leo Beauchamp, also of Sandown, received minor injuries and was treated at the same hospital.

Through their initial investigation, Hampstead Police said Leighton lost control of his motorcycle as he navigated a sharp curve going northbound. Crossing the double yellow line in the process, Leighton’s motorcycle flipped onto its side and veered straight into the path of Beauchamp’s truck as the truck traveled southbound.

Authorities said speed does not appear to be a factor in the crash. The accident remains under investigation.
