Robert I. Durgin, 83, West Lynn Creamery Milk Delivery Man

robert_durginRobert I. Durgin, 83, of Bradford, husband of Alice E. (Hanagan) Durgin, passed away July 22, at his home surrounded by his family.

Born in Groveland, he was the son of the late Edwin C.M. and Flora (Randall) Durgin. Raised and educated in the Groveland public school system, he was a graduate of Groveland High School. After graduating from high school he enlisted in the United States Army and served in Korea. He served in the 35th Infantry as a corporal and was the recipient of the Purple Heart. After he was honorably discharged, he was employed for 35 years for the West Lynn Creamery as a milk delivery man. He was a fisherman and hunter and enjoyed camping at Pike’s in Salisbury with his family. He enjoyed racing at Pine’s Speedway in Groveland and at the Kingston Fairgrounds. He loved to do woodworking in his shop. Durgin was a lifelong parishioner of Sacred Hearts Church, Bradford. He was life member in the Lorraine VFW Post and was a past commander.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, Kathleen Boyd and her husband Douglas of Little Rock, Ark., Timothy Durgin and his wife Lynne of Manchester, N.H., Carol Januszewski and her husband Jay of Haverhill, Ellen Miller and her husband Glen of Haverhill, Deborah Durgin of Hampstead, N.H., Sarah DiVincentis and her husband Robert of Haverhill and Terry Daneau and her husband John of Auburn, N.H.; grandchildren, James Watson, Michelle Carney, Brian Miller, Courtney Townsend, Kristen Beauregard, Kyle Beauregard, Ashley Januszewski, Patrick Durgin, Hannah Durgin, Nicholas and Nathan DiVincentis; great grandchildren, Bo, Makenzie, Karleigh and Rylie; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his son Robert Durgin, and siblings Edwin Durgin, Jennie Auclair, Irene Browne and Patricia Johnson.

Family and friends are invited to attend calling hours Monday, July 25, from 4 to 7 p.m., at Kevin B. Comeau Funeral Home, 486 Main St., Haverhill. Funeral services begin at 9 a.m., Tuesday, at the funeral home with a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10, at Sacred Hearts Church, 165 South Main St., Bradford. Burial follows in Elmwood Cemetery, Salem Street, Haverhill. Donations may be made in his memory to Sacred Hearts Church Food Bank, 48 South Chestnut Street, Bradford.
