Robert C. Katz, 83, Owned Former ‘Curtains ‘N Things’ in Lawrence

Robert C. Katz, 83, of Haverhill and formerly of Malden, Everett and Peabody passed away peacefully at home with his family by his side on Sunday, Feb. 11.

He was born in Lynn on Jan. 14, 1935, the son of the late Irving and Fannie (Farmelant) Katz.

Educated in the Malden school system, Katz graduated from Malden High School and earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Business from Northeastern University.

During the Korean War, he served in the United States Army attaining the rank of SP3(T) and earned a Good Conduct Medal.

For over 20 years, he owned and operated the former “Curtains ‘N Things” in Lawrence.

The loving husband of 54 years of Carla R. (Perlis) Katz of Haverhill and cherished father of Laurie Katz of Boston, Kimberly Katz and David Brookshire of Timonium, Md., he is also survived by Martin Katz of Peabody and Marilyn Beecoff of Boynton Beach, Fla.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his Funeral Service on Tuesday, Feb. 13 at 11 a.m. at the H.L. Farmer & Sons Funeral Home, 106 Summer St., Haverhill. Burial will be in Temple Beth Shalom Memorial Park, Danvers. Immediately following the burial, the family will receive visitors at the family home in Haverhill through 4 p.m. and again on Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m. as well as on Wednesday and Thursday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m.
