Raymond E. Seaman, 80, Ran Harold’s Famous Ice Cream

raymond_seamanRaymond E. Seaman, 80, of Seabrook, N.H., and longtime Haverhill resident, passed away after a lengthy illness Thursday morning, Oct. 20, at Anna Jaques Hospital, Newburyport.

Born in Haverhill Oct. 23, 1935, son of the late Harold and Rosemarie (Simard) Seaman. He graduated from St. James Grammar and High School, Haverhill. He was employed for 30 years at Western Electric until his retirement. Raymond continued his family’s tradition of running Harold’s Famous Ice Cream, an ice cream stand at various fairs, carnivals and events throughout New England. He was an avid sportsman, participating in various football, baseball and fast-pitch softball leagues, ran several marathons, worked out daily and was passionate about Boston sport teams, especially the New England Patriots.

His surviving family members include his children, Cindy Trainor of Hampton, N.H., Raymond Seaman Jr., Pamela McCrillis, Jill Murphy and husband Ronald, all of Amesbury, and Cathleen Stanley and husband Levi of Vermont; grandchildren Sherry Stanley of Worcester, Matthew Murphy of Amesbury, John Stanley and wife Danielle of Vermont and Kaitlyn Trainor of Boston; great-grandchildren Isabella, Rosalie, Vanessa, Joanna and Joe Stanley of Worcester and Levi, Lexi, Laci and Beverly Stanley of Vermont; sister Carol Portors and husband Richard of Bradford; niece Andrea Occhionero and husband Mark of Milford; and dear friend George Dupree of Merrimac. She was predeceased by siblings Robert Seaman and Marlene Rizzi and granddaughter Beverly Stanley.

Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday, Oct. 25, in Sacred Hearts Church, Bradford, 11 a.m. There will be no calling hours and interment will be privately held. Arrangements by Driscoll Funeral Home, 309 South Main Street, Bradford.
