Peter V. Grillo, 85, Attorney

Attorney Peter V. Grillo, 85, of Haverhill, passed away Saturday, May 5 in Boston.

He was born in Lawrence on April 15, 1933, the son of the late Peter and Esther (Alvino) Grillo.

Grillo was educated in the Haverhill school system and graduated from Haverhill High School. He attended Merrimack College and earned his law degree from Boston University. He entered the Air Force and served in the Judge Advocate’s office. Upon his honorable discharge, Grillo continued to serve in the Air Force reserves, retiring as a lieutenant colonel.

For many years, he owned and operated his private law firm in Bradford until his retirement five years ago.

He was predeceased by his brothers Carmen, Henry and Sam Grillo.

Grillo is survived by his loving wife of 51 years Mary Beth (Campbell) Grillo of Haverhill, daughter, Dr. Jennifer Grillo and her husband Albert Grimes of Andover, brother, Dr. Gene P. Grillo of Seabrook Beach, N.H., two sisters Rita Grillo Volpone and Eleanor Grillo both of Bradford, two grandchildren, Ella and Liam Grimes of Andover as well as many nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his calling hours on Thursday, May 10, from 5-8 p.m. at the H.L. Farmer and Sons Bradford Funeral Home, 210 South Main St., Bradford. His funeral will be held Friday morning, May 11, starting at 9 a.m. at the funeral home followed by a Funeral Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at Sacred Hearts Church, 165 South Main St., Bradford. Burial will follow at Elmwood Cemetery, Bradford. In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory may be made to the Epilepsy Foundation New England, 335 Main St., Wilmington, MA 01887, or to the American Cancer Society, 30 Speen St. Framingham, MA 01701.
