An unidentified person was shot in Haverhill’s Mount Washington neighborhood just after 7:30 p.m. on Monday, Haverhill Police spokesman Capt. Stephen J. Doherty Jr confirms to WHAV. Eyewitnesses on the scene report the victim to be an 18-year-old male, who was taken to Lawrence General Hospital.

Police were seen examining a red two-door Honda at the scene, which was cordoned off by police tape in the areas of Washington and Beach Streets.

Since January, Haverhill has been the location of five reported shootings—two of them fatal, resulting in the deaths of Jeffrey Larkin and Nike Colon. As WHAV reported in September, city man Elijah Oliver allegedly slipped a loaded handgun past police after being pat-frisked during his arrest on firearms charges.
