The Haverhill Fire Department said a fire engine seen with a candidate’s political signs on it is not one the city’s trucks.
Both Haverhill Mayor James J. Fiorentini and Haverhill Firefighters Local 1011 President Tim Carroll confirmed for WHAV the fire engine is not one of the city’s. Carroll called the truck’s appearance “misleading.”
“There has been a fire truck driving through the city of Haverhill with ‘Toohey for State Rep’ signs on it,” said Carroll in a statement. “Do not be deceived, this truck is not a Haverhill Fire department engine. The Haverhill Firefighters Local 1011 do not stand by this political manipulation and would like to further confirm and clarify our support for Andy Vargas,” he added.
It was not known at press deadline whether any campaign had endorsed use of a privately owned fire truck.
