Northern Essex Community College has found a new coach to lead its softball program.

University of Southern Maine grad Haeli Campbell has been tapped as the Knights’ new head coach, Northern Essex’s Athletic Director Dan Blair said this week. Coming to Haverhill after a coaching stint with the Firecrackers AAU softball program, Campbell is NECC’s third coach in four years.

“I’m excited to welcome Haeli and look forward to watching her grow our softball program. Her previous playing experience, passion and background in the sport will help to advance our program,” Blair said of the school’s new hire, who hit the field as a player during her undergraduate study at Eastern Connecticut State University in Willimantic, Conn. A Manchester, N.H., native, Campbell later transferred to Southern Maine, where she was named to the school’s All-Star team as a junior and senior.

The NECC Knights kick off their 2019 campaign under Campbell’s leadership in March with a four-game trip to Long Island, N.Y. to compete against Suffolk County and Nassau.
