N.H. Towns Participate in Drug Take Back Day

Police departments in Plaistow, Atkinson and Sandown, N.H., are among several in southern Rockingham County joining efforts to dispose unused or expired drugs in a “drug take back day,” Saturday, Oct. 22.

Police and Southern Rockingham Coalition for Healthy Youth’s “youth substance misuse prevention” program are participating in local drug drop-offs, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Unused or expired drugs can be deposited at Rite Aid Pharmacy, 31 Garden Road, Plaistow; Atkinson police station, 27 Academy Ave; and in a permanent drop box at Sandown police station, 460 Main St.

“The Southern Rockingham Coalition for Healthy Youth is helping to promote, support and sustain healthy choices for children, youth and families in our communities by actively working to reduce and prevent alcohol, marijuana, prescription and other drug misuse,” according to statement.

Other communities participating, within the Timberlane and Sanborn school districts, include Hampstead, Newton, Kingston, Danville and Fremont.

The “drug take-back day” is part of National Youth Substance Use Prevention Month in October. For more information, visit www.plaistow.com , or www.sorocknh.org.
