Mildred E. “Millie” (Villers) Roberts, 86, Shoe Worker at Bixby

Mildred_RobertsMildred E. “Millie” (Villers) Roberts, 86, of Groveland and formerly of Haverhill, passed away peacefully Wednesday, July 12, at Saint Elizabeth’s Medical Center, Boston.

She was the devoted wife of the late Joseph Roberts. Roberts was born Jan. 19, 1931, in Haverhill, daughter of the late Ernest A. and Mildred B. (Laporte) Villers. She attended Haverhill schools and was a lifelong resident of Haverhill before moving to Groveland. She was employed as a shoe worker with Bixby International for 20 years. She began her career with Bixby when they were located in Haverhill and retired in 1990, having worked with the company after their move to Newburyport.  She enjoyed sewing and painting and was an accomplished artist who shared her artwork with family and friends.

She is survived by nine step-children, Ilene Callahan and husband John of Haverhill, Joseph Roberts and wife Peggy of Haverhill, Gary Roberts and wife Sharon of Haverhill, Barbara Bogrett  and husband Steve of Bradford, Norma Giorato and husband Anthony of Haverhill, Michael Roberts and wife Debbie of Bradford, Diana Martin and companion Howie of New York, Carol Roberts of Groveland and Mark Roberts of Bradford; a brother; Paul J. Villers of Haverhill; sister, Elaine A. Allan of Haverhill; several nieces and nephews; and many dear friends.

Calling hours were Sunday July 16 at at Grondin-Carnevale Funeral Home 129 Kenoza Ave., Haverhill, MA 01830. A funeral mass will be celebrated today at 11 a.m., from Saint James Parish 185 Winter St., Haverhill. Burial is private.
