Methuen Police Warn of Craigslist Scammer Advertising Fake Apartments for Rent

Methuen Police are warning residents of a new scam on Craigslist perpetuated by a woman advertising fake apartments for rent.

This week authorities took two reports from victims scammed out of money to hold an apartment from a woman going by the name of Candace Parker.

According to police, the suspect engages unsuspecting apartment seekers who respond to the fake rental ads and corresponds through text message to arrange a place to meet in Methuen. In one case, the victim exchanged money to hold the apartment and was given a date to view the property. The poster was never heard from or seen again after the initial meeting and the phone number provided is now out of service.

Parker is described as having a dark complexion and large build.
