Methuen Police Release Armed Robbery Video; Seek Public’s Help

Methuen Police have released surveillance video (below) of an armed robbery that took place late Sunday night, and are asking for the public’s help in naming three suspects.

Three masked men—one with a handgun—entered Oscar’s Liquors, 411 Prospect St., Sunday, Feb. 11, just before 10 p.m. The video shows one man pointing a gun at a store clerk, while the other men go behind the counter, restrain one worker and threaten another.

The gunman was described as approximately 6 feet 2 inches tall, wearing a black winter jacket and maroon sweatpants. The second man was described as 5 feet 10 inches tall, wearing a grey sweatshirt and black Puma brand sweatpants with blue sneakers. The third man was described as 5 feet 11 inches tall, wearing a navy blue sweatshirt and black sweatpants.

The robbers fled down Prospect Street toward Ferry and the Lawrence city line with an unknown amount of cash from the store. No injuries were reported.

“We are actively investigating this incident, which could have ended much worse, given the presence of a handgun,” Police Chief Joseph E. Solomon said.

Mayor James Jajuga called the incident a “brazen robbery” and asked resident to help identify the men. Anyone with information is asked to call Methuen Police at 978-983-8698.
