Methuen Plans Mosquito Spraying Wednesday Night

The city of Methuen plans to conduct a citywide mosquito control spraying operation Wednesday night, beginning at 9 p.m.

Subject to weather conditions, truck-mounted sprayers will begin in outlying areas along city boundaries and proceed toward the city center, according to Methuen Health Department. Plans call for a “very fine mist” application of pesticides Duet or Zenivex in outdoor residential and recreational areas.

“Recent weather conditions have been ideal for mosquito growth,” a health department spokesperson said.

As a precaution, Methuen residents are also advised to keep themselves and their pets indoors during the operation. “Close your windows if you live near the road and shut off ground or street level air conditioners. In the event of excessive wind or inclement weather, spraying will not be conducted,” the spokesperson added.
