Methuen Man, 27, Dies From Accident Injuries; Had Haverhill Ties

Mourners are remembering a 27-year-old Methuen man with Haverhill ties who died Monday from injuries he received in a single-automobile accident Christmas Day in Tyngsboro.

Matthew J. Myers, 27, died Monday, Jan. 2, at Massachusetts General Hospital, Boston. His girlfriend was Christy Wood, sister of Haverhill School Committeeman Scott W. Wood Jr.

He was born, raised and educated in Methuen and was a graduate of Methuen High School. He most recently worked as a driver for World Courier. In his free time, Myers was an avid runner and proud of his work as a personal trainer. He was a devoted Celtics fan.

He leaves his parents, Michael and Doris (Dufresne) Myers of Methuen; brother Nicholas “Nick” Myers and sister Tiffany Myers, both of Methuen; grandparents, Richard Myers of South Lawrence, Leon Dufresne of Dracut,  and Carol Dufresne of Lowell; aunts and uncles, Kevin and Paula Myers of Atkinson, N.H., Donna Myers of Methuen,  and Cheryl and Daniel Taschereau of South Lawrence; girlfriend Christy Wood of Haverhill; as well as many cousins and countless beloved friends.

Friends are invited to call from 2 to 5 p.m., Sunday, Jan. 8, at Kenneth H. Pollard Funeral Home, 233 Lawrence St., Methuen. A memorial service takes place Monday, Jan. 9, 11 a.m., at the funeral home.
