The Merrimack Valley Chamber of Commerce Wednesday night honored 97.9 WHAV FM for achieving the milestone of having its new FM signal on air for more than one year.

Chamber President and CEO Joseph J. Bevilacqua presented WHAV President and General Manager with a certificate during a member appreciation business networking mixer at DiBurro’s of Ward Hill.

Bevilacqua noted it was WHAV that gave “Dancing with the Stars” host Tom Bergeron his start and reminisced about the various WHAV programs over the years. He acknowledged the long regulatory and legal process of returning the venerable radio station to FM.

WHAV, now a nonprofit, public radio station, is currently conducting its year-end fundraising appeal, “GiveBig to MyStation.”

The mixer was sponsored by DiBurro’s and Bookkeeping and Business Services of Methuen.
