Matthew Paul Bartlett, 45, Special Olympics Athlete

Matthew Paul Bartlett, 45, of Andover, died peacefully surrounded by his family on Dec.16 at Massachusetts General Hospital.

Born and raised in Newburyport, Bartlett attended Newburyport Public Schools through middle school. He also attended the Spaulding Youth Special Education School in Tilton, N.H. 

He attended Opportunity Works in Haverhill and loved his work with horses at the Windrush Farm in North Andover.

A Special Olympics athlete in track and field, Bartlett enjoyed bowling and playing basketball with his brothers. He also loved the Muppets, wrestling, and music.

He is survived by his mother Kathy Hill and her husband Raymond of Seabrook, N.H., his brothers Michael Bartlett and his wife Kim of Amesbury and Sean Hart and his wife Meghan of Quincy, his niece Allison Bartlett and nephew Aesop Hart, and his stepfather John Hart of Salisbury. He was predeceased by his grandparents Albert and Elizabeth Savage and grandmother Mary Lou Hart.

Services and burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Opportunity Works, 10 Opportunity Way, Newburyport, MA. Arrangements by Driscoll Funeral Home, Haverhill.
