Mary L. (Cote) George, 81, Worked at Summer Ob-Gyn

mary_georgeMary L. (Cote) George, 81, wife of Anthony F. George of Groveland, passed away peacefully Jan. 12, surrounded by her family.

She was born and raised in Haverhill, daughter of the late Carl and Irene (Dacey) Cote.

George was a devoted Catholic, a member of St. James, St. Rita’s, St. Patrick’s and finally Sacred Hearts Parish. She loved the power of prayer and was often asked to pray for others since everyone knew how strong her faith was.

She spent her early years in Haverhill and graduated from St. James High School. During high school at a dance, her life changed forever when she met Tony. They moved to Groveland where they raised their family. George worked at various places throughout her life including Western Electric, Internal Revenue Service and Summer Ob-Gyn. She had a passion for dancing, especially with Tony. From the moment they met if music was playing she would be dancing. She also loved playing games especially BINGO. She spent many years between Sacred Hearts and the Senior Center playing and win or lose she always had a good game. She also enjoyed to exercise especially her water aerobics classes where she made many friends.

Besides her husband, she leaves her children, Lisa (George) and husband Jerry Younts, Lori (George) Caron, Anthony and wife Shannon George, Daniel and wife D’Ann George, and Paula (George) and husband Leonard Dube; sisters Dorothy (Cote) Ippolitto, Irene (Cote) Tucci and Barbara (Cote) Quintal; brother Carl L. Cote and wife Doris; and grandchildren Justin and Jake Younts, Rob and Matthew Caron, Emily and Colleen George, Ellie and Renee George, Olivia, Emily and Abigail Dube. She was predeceased by her brother Arthur J. Cote, sister Lt. Joan Cote and son in-law William A. Caron.

Her funeral takes place  Wednesday morning, Jan. 18, beginning at Driscoll Funeral Home, 309 Sothu Main St. (route 125), Bradford, at 9. A Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in Sacred Hearts Church, 165 South Main St., Bradford. at 10 a.m. Burial follows in St. Patrick Cemetery, Haverhill. Visiting hours are Tuesday in the funeral home from 5 to 8 p.m.
