The Haverhill man being sought for a Lowell shooting Sunday morning was arrested in Lawrence late last night.

Twenty-six-year-old Dwayne Johnson, of 120 Broadway, was arrested just before midnight by the Lowell Police Warrant Unit, with help from State Police, at a home at 10 Alden Court, Lawrence. Lowell Police said Johnson did not resist the arrest.

Johnson is alleged to have shot an unnamed 24-year-old Haverhill man in the abdomen early Sunday morning. Police said witnesses report the victim was with friends at the Village Smokehouse in Lowell and, upon leaving, came across Johnson. Police believe the two men knew each other and a fight was about to break out when Johnson took out a gun and fired a shot. Johnson then fled the scene and the gun likely used was found a short distance away in an alley, police said.

Johnson, being sought for armed assault with intent to murder, was deemed to be armed and dangerous before his arrest. He was scheduled to be arraigned in Lowell District Court.
