City Council on Tuesday will hear the details of a contract with Kearsarge Energy to turn the closed Old Groveland Road landfill (pictured) into a solar installation.
City Purchasing Agent Steven S. Bucuzzo will provide details on the plan, expected to earn the city $3.5 million in lease payments over the next 20 years.

The council meets beginning at 7 p.m. in the Theodore A. Pelosi City Council Chambers on the second floor of Haverhill City Hall. The meeting is open to the public.
According to documents provided to City Council, construction of the array should take about 18 months, depending on the speed with which National Grid is able to make connections between the solar panels and the power grid.
The council is also expected to decide whether to declare residents of One Water Street, the apartments at Rivers Edge, residents of the downtown commercial district for eligibility for paid parking permits in the Goecke Parking Deck.
