Joan Marie (Lynn) Basiliere, 82, Co-Owned Capt’n Chris Restaurant

Joan_BasiliereJoan Marie (Lynn) Basiliere, 82, of Haverhill, passed away Monday, April 24, at Hannah Duston Healthcare, Haverhill, with her family by her side.

Basiliere was born in Haverhill, Aug. 15, 1934, daughter of the late James H. and Beatrice (Mette) Lynn. She attended St. James grammar school and St. James High School in Haverhill. She graduated from Chandler Secretary School, Boston. She was a member of Catholic Daughters at St. James Parish. After raising her family of seven children she worked with her husband in their business, Capt’n Chris Restaurant Haverhill. Later she worked at Getronics, Tewksbury. She was a compulsive knitter. Wherever she went her knitting needles went with her. She was the “go to” person for anyone who couldn’t figure out a knitting pattern or had a mistake. She enjoyed preparing and serving Thanksgiving Dinner at Lazarus House for many years.

Her survivors include her husband of 62 years, Donald A. Basiliere of Haverhill; children, Lynne M. Duffin and her husband T. Bradley of Plum Island, Michelle Schena and her husband Edward of Plaistow, N.H., Craig J. Basiliere and his wife Tracy of Tampa, Fla., Steven A. Basiliere and his wife Sandra of Haverhill, Philip C. Basiliere and his wife Debra of Kingston, N.H., Mark J. Basiliere of Newburyport; 15 grandchildren, and a great granddaughter.  Basiliere was predeceased by her son Kenneth.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend her visitation Saturday, April 29, from 9:30 to 11 a.m., at H.L. Farmer and Sons Funeral Home, 210 South Main St. (route 125), Bradford. Her Funeral Mass of Christian Burial follows at 11:30 a.m., at St. James Church, 185 Winter St., Haverhill. In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory may be made to Lazarus House, 412 Hampshire St., Lawrence MA 01841.
