Jacquelyn M. “Jackie” (Clarke) Murphy, 89, Worked for Telephone Co.

Jacquelyn_MurphyJacquelyn M. “Jackie” (Clarke) Murphy, 89, of Haverhill, passed away peacefully Saturday morning, Feb. 25, at Wingate at Haverhill, surrounded by her family.

She was born in Haverhill, Oct. 2, 1927, daughter of the late John and Lydia (White) Clarke. Educated in the Haverhill school system, Murphy graduated from Haverhill High School, class of 1946. For more than 25 years, she was employed at the former New England Telephone, from where she retired March 18, 1984. She enjoyed family gatherings, especially Christmas Eve, as well as bus trips and traveling, and time spent at the beach on family vacations. She was a Den Mother while her children were young.

Her survivors include her husband of 65 years, Leo G. Murphy of Haverhill and their children, Jean M. Kennedy and her husband Colin of Haverhill, Thomas P. Murphy and his wife Julie of Haverhill, Patricia A. Murphy-Painchaud and her husband Donald Painchaud of Hudson, N.H.; four grandsons, Justin Murphy and his fiancé Karrie Riley, Jarred Murphy and his girlfriend Bridget Connolly, Ryan Kennedy and his wife Ashley, Brendan Kennedy and his wife Amie Morrison; sister-in-law; Marilyn Hefferan of Atkinson, N.H.; brother-in-law, James Murphy and his wife Cora Mae of Newburyport; as well as several nieces and nephews. Murphy was also the sister-in-law of the late Marguerite “Peggy,” Edward, Richard, Joseph and William Murphy. Her family thanks the dedicated staff at Wingate at Haverhill B Wing for the care and compassion shown to her and the entire family during her stay of more than three years there.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend calling hours Wednesday, March 1, from 4 to 7 p.m., at H.L. Farmer and Sons Funeral Home, 106 Summer St., Haverhill. Her funeral is Thursday morning, March 2, beginning at 9, at the funeral home, followed by a Funeral Mass of Christian Burial at 10, in St. John the Baptist Church, Lincoln Avenue, Haverhill.
