Listeners to the new WHAV FM will enjoy the finest sound when the new station signs on at 97.9 in September.
WHAV has selected the industry’s best transmitter for the station’s power class with up-to-the-minute digital sound processing. It will soon be installed at WHAV’s Silver Hill transmission site.

WHAV’s signature sound will be refined by an integrated Orban stereo audio processor incorporating many features of Orban’s Optimod 5500 Series digital, five-band processor. WHAV’s air chain will remain entirely digital from the Ward Hill studios to the Silver Hill transmitter.
Nautel one of the world’s largest manufacturers of radio broadcasting equipment, operates from Hackett’s Cove, Nova Scotia, and Bangor, Maine.
The transmitter is not the only key piece of equipment coming from New England. WHAV has also ordered its new antenna from Shively Labs, Bridgton, Maine. The antenna is scheduled to soon be installed at 350 feet above ground on the taller of two existing Silver Hill towers. Construction of WHAV’s transmitter operations is under the supervision of Engineer David J. Doherty of Skywaves Consulting, Millbury.

Frank, an expanded version of what WHAV already airs. A heavy emphasis on local news, twice an hour weekdays; Community Spotlight quarter past every hour, 24-hours-a-day; local weather every 30 minutes around the clock; classic rock and roll music from 1954-1979; network talk programs; and expanded local talk each weeknight.
