Haverhill High’s girls’ volleyball team is getting ready to bump, set and spike down south! The Hillie team plans to take part in the national KSA volleyball tournament in Orlando, Fla., from Aug. 29-Sept. 2, with 22 students joining two school staffers for game play and fun in the sun.

According to Head Coach Victoria Pettis, teammates rallied local supporters and businesses to raise more than $14,000 to fund their trip, which includes a stay at Universal’s Cabana Bay Beach Resort and a trip to Universal Studios.

The Hillie girls will take part in six games, playing teams from all over the country in two daily matches, Pettis said. Their trip will be formally signed off on by the School Committee during Thursday’s monthly meeting in City Hall, which WHAV plans to broadcast live starting at 7 p.m.

Closer to home, the group kicks off their regular season after Labor Day.
