Ahead of Friday’s final day of school across the district, Haverhill’s incoming Superintendent Margaret Marotta will be welcomed to the city at a Wednesday afternoon reception hosted by Mayor James J. Fiorentini.

From 2-4 p.m., on June 20, Marotta is scheduled to greet members of the community at a public reception in Room 100 of City Hall, 4 Summer St. Desserts and light refreshments will be served.

Marotta’s first day on the job is July 1. She comes to Haverhill from the Salem, Mass., school system, where she served as assistant superintendent. Her tenure follows that of eight-year Haverhill Superintendent James F. Scully, who retires on June 30.
