Haverhill residents can go green—and do a good deed—Saturday during a citywide Earth Day cleanup event kicking off at 8 a.m.

Several neighborhoods have teamed up to clean around town, alongside local dignitaries, schools and businesses.

Carrying a theme of “Do Good in Your Neighborhood,” the cleanup runs until 1 p.m. and residents are encouraged to sign up with or without a team. Those willing to travel may sign up on the Haverhill Recreation Department’s website using the “Team Anywhere” designation and organizers will follow up with where help is most needed.

Residents who register through the recreation department before Friday, April 20 will be eligible for raffle prizes and other giveaways.

Haverhill High science teacher Ted Becker and his students are also seeking volunteers for a Round Pond-area cleanup from 9 a.m.-12 p.m.

Haverhill Brightside set up a community Facebook page to coordinate Saturday’s efforts. It can be found online by searching “Haverhill’s Annual Earth Day Cleanup.”
