The Massachusetts Center for Native American Awareness invites the Haverhill community to attend its annual intertribal pow-wow at Plug Pond on Sept. 9-10. Now in its 29th year, the Native American cultural event features tribes from across the region showcasing music, crafts, dancing and water activities.
This year’s event is emceed by Earl “Chiefie” Mills, Jr. and will feature music from Lee Mixashawn Rozie. Members of Maine’s Penobscot Tribe will be on hand to take attendees onboard their 30-foot voyager War Canoe for rides guided by Native Master Paddlers.
Traditional food and handmade crafts will be available for purchase.
Attendees are invited to bring lawn chairs or blankets for seating. There is a $5 suggested donation for adults and $3 for children 4-12.
The Intertribal Pow-Wow at Plug Pond takes place Saturday, Sept. 9 and Sunday, Sept. 10 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., with Grand Entry happening at approximately 12:30 p.m.
