Haverhill Students Welcome Holiday Season With Performance of ‘Christmas Carol’

The curtain goes up on one of Haverhill’s favorite holiday traditions at Haverhill High School when Scrooge, Tiny Tim and the Ghost of Christmas Past take the stage Thursday for the first of four performances of “A Christmas Carol.”

Performances are at 7 p.m. on Dec. 8 through 10, with a matinee performance on Dec. 10 at 2 p.m. The show is staged in the Haverhill High School auditorium, 137 Monument St. General admission tickets are $8 at the door. Discounted tickets of $5 are available to students and senior citizens.

Under the direction of teacher Joseph Gori, a cast made up of dozens of Haverhill students from all grades will tell Charles Dickens’ story of transformation. The students have been rehearsing their roles since October.

Dickens published “A Christmas Carol” in 1843; it has never been out of print since.
