Haverhill, Sandown Women Shot in Lawrence Drive-By Attack

The women fled to Methuen after being struck while sitting in a parked car in Lawrence. Detectives do not believe the incident was random.

Two women—a 19-year-old from Haverhill and a 20-year-old from Sandown, N.H.—are listed in in stable condition with serious injuries after a drive-by shooting in Lawrence late Saturday night.

The victims, who had not been identified as of news deadline, were struck while sitting in a parked car on Berkeley Street in Lawrence. They fled to a commercial building on Swan Street, Methuen, following the 10:43 p.m. shooting. The Haverhill woman was shot once in the head and airlifted to a Boston hospital, while the other was shot in the leg and taken to a local hospital by ambulance, according to Lawrence Police Chief James Fitzpatrick.

Police said a man, wearing a ski mask and gray hooded sweatshirt and driving a silver BMW four-door sedan, pulled up to parked car women and opened fire. Detectives do not consider the incident a random act of violence. Methuen police responded once the women entered Methuen.
