Local state Rep. Lenny Mirra is lending his support to republican candidate Rick Green as the Pepperell-based business owner prepares for the September 4 congressional primary.

This week, the 2nd district representative who advocates for residents of Haverhill, Boxford and Georgetown, among other cities, issued an endorsement calling Green “the right candidate” to bring change to the area. He also praised Green’s efforts to rebuild local infrastructure and combat the opioid crisis.

“Rick Green is the right candidate to bring the Merrimack Valley forward. He is a proven job creator who knows how to get our economy booming,” Mirra said of his fellow republican. “Third district families can count on him to faithfully advocate for their interests in Washington. Our district needs action, and Rick is a man of action. I am proud to endorse him for Congress.”

Green, the cofounder and CEO of 1A Auto, is vying to succeed Congresswoman Niki Tsongas to represent residents of the 3rd district, which includes Haverhill. He faces off in the November state election against independent Mike Mullen and the democrat who wins September’s primary.
