Haverhill Public Meetings for Week of Nov. 19

The public has opportunities to shape policy this week as various Haverhill boards meet. In the interest of transparency in government, WHAV provides this list of upcoming meetings every week.

Tuesday, Nov. 20

Board of Assessors will meet between 9 – 10 a.m. in the Assessor’s Office, room 115 at Haverhill City Hall. A high volume of statutory exemption applications will be discussed. The applications are submitted yearly by disabled veterans and elderly and other disabled residents in Haverhill to save hundreds of dollars on their taxes if they qualify for an exemption. City Tax Assessor Christine Webb will also make preparations for a second meeting with the City Council on Nov. 27 to discuss tax classification in lieu of Mayor James J. Fiorentini vetoing the council’s proposed tax plan on Friday.

Haverhill Forest Management Committee meets at 1 p.m. at the Thompson Road entrance to the Meadow Brook Conservation Area. Members will review a forest cutting plan prepared by New England Forestry Consultants for the west side of Millvale Reservoir.

City Council Public Safety Committee will meet at 7 p.m. in room 204 of City Hall. Councilor William J. Macek will discuss chronic traffic issues and public safety concerns on South Chestnut Street in Bradford. Council President John A. Michitson will provide an update on a meeting with group home stakeholders to address severe problems in Haverhill. Councilor Joesph J. Bevilacqua wants to discuss a proposed I-495 bridge and the reconstruction of the Basiliere Bridge.
