Haverhill Public Meetings for Week of Jan. 14

The public has opportunities to shape policy this week as various Haverhill boards meet. In the interest of transparency in government, WHAV provides this list of upcoming meetings every week.

Tuesday, Jan. 15

Haverhill’s Board of Assessors gathers at 10 a.m. in room 115 of City Hall, 4 Summer St., to discuss excise abatements, Tax Assessor Christine M. Webb confirms.

A final vote to determine zoning of retail marijuana in the City of Haverhill is expected to take place during the 7 p.m. City Council meeting. WHAV intends to broadcast the session live from the Theodore A. Pelosi Jr. City Council Chambers, room 202 of City Hall, only on 97.9 FM.

Wednesday, Jan. 16

Ward Hill’s Hillview Montessori trustees convene this morning at 8:30 a.m. for their monthly session at 75 Foundation Ave.

A 7 p.m. public hearing is planned to discuss the upcoming extension of the Bradford Rail Trail. Representatives from the Massachusetts Department of Transportation will be on hand to address resident questions and concerns ahead of the project, which extends the trail approximately 1,100 feet from the Basiliere Bridge to Railroad Street. The meeting happens in room 301 of City Hall.

Thursday, Jan. 17

Haverhill Public Library trustees come together to discuss staffing and expenses during an 8:30 a.m. session at 99 Main St.

Fundraising is key point of discussion during the 7 p.m. gathering with members of the city’s Vietnam Veterans Memorial Ad Hoc Commission in City Hall’s room 301.

The Merrimack Valley Planning Commission’s monthly 7 p.m. meeting at 160 Main St., intends to highlight regional housing plans and showcase success stories.
