Campbell nominated her constituent Buell, who manages the Methuen branch of People’s United Bank and serves as president of the Methuen Exchange Club.

“Linda is a truly exceptional member of the Methuen community and her heart is as big as a heart gets,” Campbell said. “She radiates the pure joy of people who give at every opportunity they can.”

Freshman representative Vargas paid tribute to Nieves for her work with Haverhill High’s Violence Intervention Program known as VIP.

“Ms. Nieves continues to have a profound impact on the lives of Haverhill youth,” Vargas said. “Eridania is blessed with the ability to understand and empathize with young people in a way that has changed their lives for the better.”

The women were among 130 women honored at the ceremony that featured remarks from Lt. Gov. Karyn Polito and Speaker of the House Robert DeLeo.
