Residents and city officials came together to honor Haverhill’s military in a series of weekend events that included a parade and breakfast.

Fresh from their Tuesday re-election, city councilors Thomas J. Sullivan, John A. Michitson, Melinda E. Barrett, Colin F. LePage, Joseph J. Bevilacqua and Michael S. McGonagle participated in Saturday’s parade and joined the community for a remembrance ceremony at Veterans Plaza.

John Lenotte, a past commander of the American Legion Post, offered remarks following the parade.

“The annual Veterans Day Parade honors all living Veterans and gives us a chance to honor them for their service to our country,” Sullivan told WHAV. “Now more than ever, it is important to show our support for the men and women who keep us safe and free.”

Elsewhere in the city, Haverhill’s Rotary Club hosted a Veterans Day Awards breakfast and city residents gathered at the Citizen’s Center for a remembrance event.
