Haverhill Fire Chief William F. Laliberty and three Trinity EMS paramedics were named “Stewards of the Community” for their life-saving heroics during a March snowstorm.
Trinity’s Director of Clinical Services Kirk Brigham nominated Laliberty and paramedics Brian Belfiore, Robert DeFlumeri and Jason Landry for recognition by Holy Family Hospital after they came to the aid of a Haverhill man who became unresponsive while snow blowing.
The 67-year-old man’s wife called 911 and off-duty Laliberty responded to the scene, which was down the street from his own house. Groveland firefighter and EMT Belfiore was plowing a few streets away and also responded, as did DeFlumeri and Landry, who joined in the team effort to save the man’s life.
During a recent “EMS Stewards of the Community” awards ceremony, the men were celebrated by Holy Family President Craig Jesiolowski and former Red Sox relief pitcher Mike Timlin, among others.
“EMS providers are unsung heroes on the front lines in the battle against illness and injury,” said Jesiolowski. “We are immensely proud to honor their hard work and commitment to quality care with these annual awards.”
