Haverhill Bank’s Pruyn Joins West Newbury Committee

Sherry L. Pruyn, new member of West Newbury Community Preservation Committee, is sworn in at West Newbury town offices.

Sherry L. Pruyn, mortgage officer at Haverhill Bank’s forthcoming West Newbury branch, was recently appointed to the West Newbury Community Preservation Committee as a member-at-large.

Pruyn joins Chairman Judy Mizner and members Joseph Anderson, vice chair; Ann Bardeen, clerk; Thomas Flaherty; Robert Janes; Mary Harada; and Michael Bertino, town finance director. The West Newbury Community Preservation Committee studies the town’s needs in terms of open space, affordable housing and historic preservation and offers spending recommendations at town meeting. Authorized by voters during the 2006 elections, the committee is comprised of representatives from the Conservation Commission, Historical Society, Housing Authority, Parks and Recreation Commission, Planning Board and Board of Selectmen.

“It is a great honor to be able to serve my community in this manner. I thank the board of selectmen for the confidence they have placed in me,” said Pruyn. She added she believes her more than 25 years of banking experience, including Veterans Administration and MassHousing lending programs, may prove useful in evaluating proposals that come before the committee.

Pruyn was appointed to a three-year term.
