Members of Haverhill’s adult flag football team dubbed the Angels are headed to Seattle this week to take part in the Special Olympics USA Games.

Teammates Sara and Brendan Tobin, Nick Johnson, Joey Murach, Greg Chicone, and Jonathan Hogan are joining brothers Eric, Alex, Andrew, and Noah Zamansky and coaches Jay Barnes and Joe Tobin for the events from July 1-7, team booster Fran Hogan tells WHAV.

The group was selected to take part in the national championship as members of the Massachusetts delegation of Special Olympics athletes.

“These athletes, all they want to do is be included,” Angels’ Coach Barnes said. “They want to feel accepted; they want to compete.”

During their time in Seattle, the group plans to bunk at the University of Washington. Prior to heading out West, the Haverhill Angels will be celebrated at a dinner hosted by Special Olympics USA Games sponsor Bank of America, Hogan said.
