Gloria M. (Duchemin) Beaupre, 83, Nurse at Lakeview House

Gloria M. (Duchemin) Beaupre, 83, longtime Merrimac resident and formerly of Haverhill, died Tuesday night, Jan. 3, at Penacook Place Nursing Home in Haverhill, surrounded by her family.

Born in Haverhill July 3, 1933, she was one of seven children of the late Oliver H. and Wilhelmina (Williams) Duchemin. She attended Haverhill Trade School and went on to become a licensed practical nurse, having worked many years at hospitals and numerous nursing homes in the Merrimack Valley and finally retiring from Lakeview House Nursing Home in Haverhill. Beaupre continued with her caretaking with her disabled husband Arthur, until his passing in 2002. She enjoyed gardening, reading, poetry, crafts, ceramics and dining out for “brunch” with a small circle of lifelong friend’s.

Beaupre was the wife of the late Arthur Beaupre, who died Aug. 2, 2002, and the mother of Philip S. Beaupre and partner Gayle of Exeter, N.H., Sharon J. Beaupre of Jasper, Ga., David C. Beaupre and wife Rebecca of Exeter, N.H., Keith T. Beaupre, Mark O. Beaupre, both of Nashua, N.H., and Bonnie L. Buckley and husband John of Merrimac; grandmother of 11 grandchildren; great-grandmother of 11 great-grandchildren; brother, Edgar T. Duchemin and wife Mary of Haverhill; sister, Margaret Driscoll of Haverill; and several generations of nieces and nephews, extended family members and friends. In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by her infant son, Arthur, brother Thomas H. Duchemin and three sisters, Olive B. Pitkin, Elizabeth Palermo and Ella Mae Jones.

A graveside service at Bridge Street Cemetery, West Newbury, takes place at a later date on a warm sunny day, followed by a Celebration of Life. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, Mass. Chapter, 480 Pleasant St., Watertown, MA 02472 or to Penacook Place Dementia Unit, 150 Water Street, Haverhill, MA 01830. Arrangements are by Paul C.
