Gloria E. Senno, 95, Former Beautyland Salon Hairdresser

Gloria E. Senno, 95, lifelong Haverhill resident, passed peacefully at the Baker-Katz Nursing Home, Haverhill, early Wednesday morning, Jan. 18.

Born in Haverhill, Aug. 12, 1921, she was one of five children of the late Felice G. and Teresa (Bonando) Senno and was a graduate of Haverhill High School, class of 1939. She went on to graduate from hairdressing school in 1942 from the Lawrence Academy, and for many years worked at the Beautyland Salon in Washington Square. Being an accomplished crafts person, she made intricately designed hook rugs and exquisite needle point, always crafting something special for family and friends, and also enjoyed doing crossword puzzles. Senno was a member of the Catholic Women’s Club of the former St. George’s Church and a parishioner of All Saints Church of Haverhill. Her devotion to her church and family has given her great comfort and joy over the years.

Predeceased by her three sisters and her brother, Stella Senno, Alvira Stenno, Alba Hannon and Felix Senno, she leaves behind her nieces and their families, Rena Vermette and Barbara McGuire of Haverhill, Gail Senno of Manchester, N.H., and Eleanor Weckessar and husband Guy of Lemont, Ill.

Visiting hours are from 9 to 10:30 a.m. at the Monument Square Chapel of Paul C. Rogers Family Funeral Home, 334 Main St., Haverhill, Friday, Jan. 20, immediately followed by a funeral mass at 11, at All Saints Church, 120 Bellevue Ave., Haverhill. She will be laid to rest on her family lot at St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Haverhill. Donations in her memory may be made to the St. Vincent de Paul Society of All Saint’s Church in Haverhill.
