Gerald Henry Charron, 82, Retired from General Electric

Gerald Henry Charron, 82, of Groveland, passed away Saturday, Jan. 6, at The Meadows in North Andover surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Haverhill on April 25, 1935, th eson of the late Henry and Marjorie (Sargent) Charron. He was educated in the Haverhill school system, graduated from Haverhill High School as part of the Class of 1952 and earned his Bachelor’s Degree from Northeastern University.

For over 45 years, Charron was employed as an Engineer at General Electric Aircraft Engines, Lynn, retiring from the company in 1998. He was a proud 1958 graduate and member of the GE Apprentice program.

Charron had a strong faith and was former member of the St. Rita’s, St. Patrick’s and Sacred Heart parishes over the years. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus in Groveland. He also served briefly in the U.S. Army, from which he was honorably discharged.

He was the devoted and loving husband of the late Albertine E. (Levasseur) Charron, to whom he was married for 44 years. His survivors include son Christopher G. Charron and spouse Terry of Lexington, two daughters, Mary Anne Charron of West Hartford, Conn., Regina Anne McGorray of Marblehead, brother Richard Charron of Merrimac, sister Kathleen Poole of Haverhill and eight grandchildren: Matthew and Nicole Swartz, Lily and Jack Charron and Seamus, Declan, Emmett, and Brogan McGorray. He also leaves his companion, Anne Bevelaqua, with whom he shared several years of friendship, adventure, and love — as well as many cousins, relatives, former colleagues, and close friends.

Charron was a devoted husband, father and friend. He took great joy in spending time with family and friends at home in Haverhill and Groveland, winter months in Naples, Fla., as well as summer vacations in Martha’s Vineyard and Kennebunkport, Maine. He was an avid Boston sports fan, and loved to play golf. Above all else, he loved his wife, children and grandchildren – taking special pride in building a home, caring for his yard, planning vacations, coaching, hosting holiday gatherings, helping out his neighbors, and being supportive of his children and grandchildren at every opportunity.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his calling hours on Wednesday, Jan. 10 from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at the H.l. Farmer & Sons Funeral Home, 106 Summer St., Haverhill. His funeral will be Thursday, Jan. 11, beginning at 9 a.m. at the funeral home, followed by a funeral mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in Sacred Heart Church, 165 South Main St., Bradford.
