Gerald F. Nordengren, 84, Korean War Veteran

Gerald F. Nordengren, 84, of Haverhill, died Friday morning, July 22, at Penacook Place Nursing Home, Haverhill.

He was born in Elizabeth, N.J., May 24, 1932, son of the late Edward M. and Catherine M. (Pratt) Nordengren.  He was educated at Sacred Hearts Grammar School and attended Haverhill High School. During the Korean War he served in the United States Air Force, attaining the rank of A/2c.  Nordengren was a member of the Disabled American Veterans Chapter 20 Haverhill. For more than 30 years he was employed as a machine operator at the former Western Electric, from where he retired in 1980. He enjoyed fishing, camping, bowling, horse races and playing horseshoes.

His survivors include his wife of 64 years, Theresa M. (White) Nordengren of Haverhill; two sons, Kenneth J. Nordengren and his wife Deborah of West Newfield, Maine, and David M. Nordengren and his wife Cheryl of East Wakefield, N.H.; grandchildren, Jessica, Harry, Britney, Michaela, Mercedes, Adrianna, and Michelle; sisters-in-law, Shirley White of Haverhil, and Margaret Nordengren of Bradford; and several nieces and nephews. Nordengren was the brother of the late William K. Nordengren, Dorothy Nordengren and Edward M. Nordengren.

His family extends thanks to the staff at Penacook Place and Beacon Hospice for the care they provided to Nordengren while under their care.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend a graveside service Thursday afternoon, July 28, 2 p.m., in Riverview Cemetery, Groveland. Arrangements are by H.L. Farmer & Sons Funeral Homes and Cremation Service, Haverhill and Bradford.
