Gary R. Preo, 65, Machine Operator at Vernon Plastics

gary_preoGary R. Preo, 65, of Haverhill, passed away at Merrimack Valley Holy Family Hospital, Haverhill, Oct. 22, surrounded by his loving family.

Born and raised in Lewiston, Maine, he was the son of the late Percy F. and Rhenda L. (Vallee) Preo. After graduating high school, he enlisted in the United States Marine Corp and was honorably discharged. He was employed as a machine operator at Vernon Plastics for many years. He enjoyed tinkering with machines and electronic equipment. Preo was an avid motorcyclist and enjoyed riding his bike whenever he could. He was affectionately known as “PH,” which stood for Powerhouse. He was a member of the Wolfpack Side Band, a CB radio group, a member of the Sons of the American Legion, 1314 Main St., Squadron 4, and was a sargent of arms. He was also involved with Rescue Eight of Merrimac Valley. He liked to collect things, was an amateur photographer and had a sweet tooth.

Preo is survived by his companion Debbie Paquette of Haverhill; children, Rhenda Dube-Culbert of Spencer, Jessy Preo of Spencer, and Todd Preo Hastings and his wife Ruth Ann Watson of So. Gardner, Maine; stepdaughter Sheary Adams of Haverhill; wife, Gloria J. (Bolster) Preo; four brothers and four sisters; many grandchildren and great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews; his best friend, Everett Martin of Haverhill. In addition to his parents he was predeceased by three siblings.

Funeral services are Friday, Oct. 28, 5 p.m., at Kevin B. Comeau Funeral Home, 486 Main St., Haverhill. Burial will be private.
