Gale Park Neighbors Seek Volunteers Saturday Morning

A second phase of restoration at Gale Park begins Saturday with tree and flower planting and installation of paving stones within the triangle garden.

Gale Park Neighbors are seeking volunteers between 8 a.m. and noon. They will be assisted by the city’s Parks Department and workers on loan from the Essex County Sheriff’s Department. Volunteers are asked to bring their own tools. One of the aims of the project is to ease maintenance chores by adding drip irrigation, for example.

Gale Park is at the junction of Kenoza Avenue, Mill Street and Saltonstall Road.

The group is also seeking donations to help pay for materials, repair or replacement of the existing fountain, installation of an additional bench near the fountain and matching trash receptacles.

Members are seeking $5,000 and created a GoFundMe.com account to collect donations.
